Local 12 sits on the Parking Committee that makes the decisions on parking for
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Naval Base Kitsap (Bremerton and Bangor).
This committeee came into being when Naval Base Kitsap decided they could do
what ever they wanted without regards to what the Unions or the Shipyard wanted.
This caused the unions (all of the unions at the Shipyard) to file an Unfair Labor
Practice (ULP) with the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) to halt this
practice. The FLRA ruled in favor of the unions, causing the Naval Base
Instruction to be rewritten to giving the unions an equal say in how the parking
decisions are made and implemented. This parking committee meets once a
month and copies of the minutes of those meetings will be linked here.
