Union Leader Essay Contest

In addition to the annual scholarship, Local 12 also sponsors the Union Leader Essay Contest . The essay contest is intended to be encouragement and support of our youth in their academic endeavors.

The Union struggle goes long into the past, and it is the workers of today that are receiving the benefits of that struggle.  In order to give the people who achieved our reality the recognition they deserve, a $50.00 dollar savings bond is awarded to the most outstanding essay telling the story of a past Union Leader to one 7th, one 8th, and one 9th grader. Applicants must be currently enrolled in any public, private, or home middle school as a 7th, 8th, or 9th grader.
