| Each year IFPTE Local 12 is proud to sponsor the IFPTE
Arthur Freitag Scholarship. The Scholarship was established to honor
Arthur Freitag a long time member, Chief Representative, President of Local 12,
and a man committed to education. The scholarship will recognize
the high achievement of local graduating seniors (including home school
graduates) who are continuing to higher education. This award is
in the form of a check for $1000.00 for the first year, and a check for $500.00
for the following academic year. |
To be eligible, an applicant must be a son or daughter of an IFPTE Local 12
member in good standing, a graduating senior, including Washington Home School
(WHO), and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or better.
The applicant will provide satisfactory assurance they are committed to
enrolling in the upcoming Fall Quarter at any college, university, or trade
school (of their choice). |

Union Leader Essay
Contest |
| n addition to the annual scholarship, Local 12 also sponsors the
Union Leader Essay Contest . The essay
contest is intended to be encouragement and support of our youth in their
academic endeavors.
|
| The Union struggle goes long into the past, and it is the workers of today that
are receiving the benefits of that struggle. In order to give the people
who achieved our reality the recognition they deserve, a $50.00 dollar savings
bond is awarded to the most outstanding essay telling the story of a past Union
Leader to one 7th, one 8th, and one 9th grader.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in any public, private, or home middle
school as a 7th, 8th, or 9th grader. |
